'Global rankings of Indian varsities need improvement'
IIS (Deemed to be University), in Jaipur, has been organising a two-day meet to discuss 'Internationalization of Higher Education and Global Rankings'.

The current status of global rankings of Indian Universities need a huge improvement, said Pankaj Mittal, the Secretary-General of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). She said that with more number of students seek admission in overseas universities and more graduates joining the global workforce, Internationalisation of Higher Education has become a necessity as well as the reality of the present time.

Citing QS World University Rankings, she said that in the top global 100 universities there is not a single Indian university. While in the top 200 there are only three from India and in the top 500 there are only nine Indian varsities. Also, 23 Indian universities found a place in the top 1,000 list.
