From India's Chandrayaan 2 to China's Chang'e lander: Most memorable space moments of 2019
Here are some of the most iconic and memorable space moments of 2019, from India's Chandrayaan 2 to China's Chang'e lander.

Scientists and researchers have made huge strides when it comes to discovering the outer space. Major technological developments have made it possible for various countries to create history and discover new data about outer space., which created several exciting moments for space enthusiasts.

Here are some of the most memorable space moments of 2019:

1. India's Chandrayaan 2 mission

Chandrayaan 2 was one of the most anticipated space missions in the country's history.

The mission ended with huge disappointment when Chandrayaan 2's lander, Vikram, lost communication with the ground stations. The only success in the entire mission was the fact that the Orbiter component of Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft made it to the moon without any glitch.

2. Isreal's Beresheet lander mission

Isreal also attempted to reach the moon with its privately funded Beresheet robotic lander.

Isreal was very close to completing the mission when Beresheet crashed only 489 feet above the lunar surface. The project was SpaceIL and Isreal Aerospace Industriesl, who have plans to conduct another mission to another location.

3. China's Chang'e 4 mission

China created history this year by being the first country to make a soft landing on the moon's far side.

The Chang'e 4 lander and Yutu 2 rover made a landing at Von Kármán crater on the moon's far side. This has not been possible yet because the moon blocks all signals to our planet. After nearly an year, the lander and rover are still sending back pictures and data related to the moon's surface and atmosphere.

4. India's Anti- Satellite test

India conducted another space mission this year, with its anti- satellite test, which made it the fourth country to have this technology.

India named this mission "Mission Shakti", in which they destroyed an Indian satellite in the low- Earth orbit with an anti- satellite missile. This created a cloud full of debris which might prove hazardous to intact spacecrafts.

5. USA's all women spacewalk

NASA's astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir took part in the first ever all femal spacewalk in October this year.

The reason for this spacewalk was some tricky batteries attached to the outside of the spacecraft which the pair set out to fix. NASA had tried to conduct an all women spacewalk before but because of equipment issues the operation could not be succesfull.

6. USA's Apollo 11's 50th anniversary

2019 marked the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing, which was the first ever human moon landing in history.

NASA held various events to credit the astronauts and the 400,000 workers who made the mission possible. They have also set an aim to conduct another mission to the moon in 2024, along with the first Artemis mission in 2021, which aims for an unscrewed loop around the moon.
